Paola Díaz – Professional Kizomba Dancer – Bogota, Colombia

Paola Diaz is a Kizomba Dancer and Kizomba Embassy Ambassador currently located in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is originally from Bogota, Colombia.

Paola grew up in the arts performing on stage in the theater. As a young woman, she was into gymnastics, singing & traditional Colombian dances.

She is the founder and artistic creative Director of her own initiative “Artist Souls Paola Díaz”. Additionally, she is also a choreographer and certified instructor of Kizomba Soul Secrets©, Latin-American dances. 

Her favorite styles of dance are traditional Latin-American and African dances include Kizomba, Bachata, Cuban Salsa, Cali style Salsa, Salsa Choke, Merengue, Cumbia, and Champeta.

Paola’s passion for Kizomba began in Maputo, Mozambique in 2012. Here, she started her training in traditional Kizomba, Passada, Semba, and Kuduro.  She continued to study traditional Kizomba and became a teacher’s assistant in 2014 with Bailamos Dance School in Ezulwini, Swaziland.

In 2016, Paola took up Urban Kiz and Kizomba fusion and became a certified Kizomba Instructor in Bogota, Colombia. She also was part of the Souls Secrets method, which was the social change mission of the dance school. In this program, dancers and instructors work together to make a difference through dance in their local communities.

Paola is also a philanthropist and has taught dance for communities of refugees, migrants, pregnant women, children & adults with special needs.

When she arrived in South Africa in 2018, she decided to start her own local project, “Artist Souls Paola Díaz”. In this project, she continues to dance and teach Kizomba, Urban Kiz, Kizomba fusion, and Latin-American dances.

She frequently collaborates with the Colombian Embassy in South Africa for the cultural exchange of traditional Colombian dances. Her native language is Spanish but she is also fluent in English and Portuguese.

Her background includes over ten years working as a humanitarian worker in Middle East & Africa. When she is not dancing she loves to write and tutor in Spanish.
